Frequently asked questions
What is Accountant in Your Pocket?
Accountant in Your Pocket is an accounting service protection plan. For a monthly or annual fee, each member is allowed a set amount of services per year with a CPA which include consultations an array of topics (including tax planning and financial planning), IRS audit support (in plus and premium packages), financial document examinations, research, and more.
What services do you include?
Services vary by the package. All packages come with a set amount of 30-minute consultations per year that can be used for tax planning, financial planning, software questions, and more. Individual/Family plans include estate planning in their benefits as well as IRS audit support. Business plus and premium plans come with IRS audit support, whereas the basic plan does not. Business plans also come with a set amount of collections letters that can be drafted and sent throughout the year with additional letters done at $85 each. Tax preparation (not planning) and bookkeeping, budgeting and forecasting are provided at $50/hour up to a specified number of hours, depending on the package.
Are you an accounting firm?
Accountant in Your Pocket is not an accounting firm. We are a service plan that guarantees members benefits with a CPA for a monthly/yearly fee.
What is the difference between tax planning and tax preparation?
The providers at Accountant in Your Pocket recognize tax planning as advising on how to lessen their tax liability throughout the year, as well as examining their financial documents needed to file their taxes. Tax planning becomes tax preparation when the CPA or other designated tax professional begins inputting data onto forms with the intention to file them on behalf of the member. When tax planning is utilized effectively, tax preparation takes minimal time.
How much do these plans cost?
Each plan varies by the package level and type. Please see our package’s pages to get a price.
Do the business plans include individuals?
No, each business plan is for one entity. An individual/family may be added to the plan for $14.95 per month. This will not increase the benefits in the package. It will however allow the individual to use the benefits for their own circumstances as well as the business.
Do the business plans include all of my businesses?
No, each business plan is for one entity. An additional business may be added to the plan for $14.95 per month. This will not increase the benefits in the package. It will however allow that business to use the benefits for their own circumstances as well as the original business’.
What happens if I use all of my benefits and I need more?
If you are needing additional consultations, these are provided to you at a 25% discount from the CPA’s standard rate. Additional financial document examinations and collections letters are provided at $85 each.
Budgeting, bookkeeping, and forecasting are provided at $50/hour for a specific number of hours depending on the package. Hours exceeding that amount are billed at a 25% discount from the CPA’s standard rate.
Tax preparation is billed at $50/hour for a specific number of hours. If those hours are exceeded, the member is billed at the CPA’s standard rate without the discount.
IRS audit support is included with a specified number of hours include in the package. Hours exceeding those hours are billed at $50/hour for a scaled number of hours (the longer the member has held a plan with us, the more hours they are allotted). Hours exceeding those are billed at the CPA’s standard rate without the discount.
Why is tax preparation billed at the standard rate after being billed at $50/hour?
We have our CPAs bill at their standard rate after the allotted hours at $50/hour because as long as adequate tax planning is performed, the member should not have any surprises with exceeding the allotted hours at $50/hour. When you go to a firm to have your taxes done, you are billed for the tax planning and tax preparation at their standard rate, which ranges from $150-$400 per hour on average. The majority of this work is in your financial document examinations and planning. With our plan, the member is allowed a set amount of consultations that can be used for tax planning, thus greatly reducing the time it takes for tax preparation.
What is your refund policy?
The member has the right to review their contract with us, which is available to them after signing up. If they are not satisfied for any reason, they have 10 days to send us a written notice to [email protected] of their intent to cancel and receive a refund. After that 10 days, a refund will not be issued.
